Feature Spotlight: Access BestScan When You Need It

There are two ways to use BestScan:

When you need to file a document SEPARATE FROM your petition, access BestScan from the ECF Manager

To file a Declaration Re: ECF:

  1. Open the ECF Manager.
  2. Click BestScan. The BestScan window opens with the court recommended scanner settings selected.
  3. Load the document into your scanner, then click Scan.
  4. Review the scan, then click Save PDF.
  5. The Save PDF File window appears with a list of all of the supplemental documents that can be filed with OneTouch in your district. Select Declaration.PDF, then Save PDF. Best Case then generates the PDF file, gives the file the correct name and saves it to your client's ECF Manager.

When you need to file a document AS PART of you petition, access BestScan from the Forms and Schedules Menu

To attach a deed to a house directly to Schedule A:

  1. Highlight Schedule A, then click Attach at the bottom of the menu, or press [Alt]+[T].
  2. Click Insert and select Scan Attachment. The BestScan attachment window opens, with the court recommended scanner settings selected.
  3. Load the document into your scanner, then click Scan.
  4. Review the scan, then click Save.
  5. The Add Attachment Screen appears and by default Best Case assigns the document a name based on the number of other attachments to the form (e.g. Attachment A for the first attachment, Attachment B for the second, etc.). It will attach to Schedule A and print after the original form. You have the option to change any of these default settings in this window.
  6. Click OK to save the attachment, then Close to return to the Forms and Schedules Menu. The scanned document is now permanently part of your client's file. Anytime you print the original form or convert it to a PDF, it will be included as part of the form.
