ALTERNATE METHOD: If you have a scanned version of Form 23 already you can still use OneTouch to automate the filing. Simply place the Form 23 PDF files into the client's ECF folder and begin at Step 4 above. The PDF file must be named Form23D.pdf for the debtor and Form23J.pdf for a Joint Debtor, or you may combine both debtors into a single file named Form23DJ.pdf.

IMPORTANT: A case number is necessary to file Form 23. And based on jurisdiction there are different filing requirements for Form 23 and the certificate. Verify with your Court for local specifications.

NOTE: Form 23 Certificate Concerning Financial Management is located in the Supplemental Forms folder and is intended to be filed as a post-petition document. It is not the same as the Certificate of Credit Counseling the debtor files with the initial petition.

Did You Know? You can specify a local form to be treated like a main form or schedule

If there is a local form that is filed for every case, move it from the Local Forms or Supplemental Forms folder to the main Forms and Schedules Menu so when you select all forms to print, this form is always included.

To move a supplemental form into the main Forms and Schedules Menu:

  1. Close all windows in Best Case
  2. Click Setup/Jurisdictions
  3. Highlight the jurisdiction name then click Edit, the jurisdiction preferences window opens
  4. Click the Edit Forms List button
  5. Under the Jurisdiction Forms List, highlight the form you want to move then click the Up button until the form is positioned under the Standard Filing headingEdit Jurisdiction Forms List
  6. Click Close, then click OK

Shortcut! With the Client File Open:

  • Navigate to Setup/Edit Case Jurisdiction or press [Ctrl-Shift-J] from the Forms and Schedules Menu
  • Follow steps 4-6 above

IMPORTANT: If the local or supplemental document is a Quick Form (Displayed with a Q in the icon), you will have to edit the form first so Best Case knows to include the document with the filing.
