Feature Spotlight: Eliminate manual post-petition filing steps with ECF Express Direct

ECF Express Direct is a new shortcut that links you to specific post-petition Court pages. Best Case automates part of the process by entering the relevant case information and lands you on the page you need, thus eliminating manual filing steps. Link to ECF actions, such as File Motion, File Plan, Creditor Maintenance, Docket Report and more.

File a Motion with ECF Express Direct:

  1. In the ECF Manager, click the ECF Express Direct (arrow next to ECF Express Filing button).

  2. Choose File Motion. The ECF Login page appears, click Login Now.
  3. Watch as Best Case auto-populates the relevant case information and takes you to the File a Motion page.

  4. From this point, follow the Court requests and manually complete the filing.

Insights: Client Templates – Faster and easier case preparation

Create Client Templates to pre-populate specific data into new client files. Save time and avoid redundant data-entry. Build as many templates as you need!

Create a Client Template:

  1. In the Client Window, select the drop-down filter list, Templates for New Clients.
  2. Click New Client. Select the radio button Empty Template File, then click Next.

  3. Enter a template description in the Index As field and other basic information, such as the Type of Debtor, Chapter and Jurisdiction. Click OK, returning you to the template list.

  4. Double-click the template file to open and begin customizing. Enter data as you would a normal client file.

    Note: Pre-populate data that is used in a number of cases, such as: payments related to debt counseling or bankruptcy (Form 7, #9), the IRS as a creditor (Schedule E), attorney compensation information and/or other jurisdiction specific information.

Create a new client based on a Client Template:

  1. Click New Client.
  2. Choose the radio button, New Client copied from Template and highlight the template you want to use. Click Next.

    Note: This prompt only appears if you have previously created templates.

  3. Complete the client set-up info and click OK.
  4. Enter specific client information to complete your petition.

Shortcuts: Drag and drop case files to your Client List

When sharing client files with your support staff or Attorney, importing clients into Best Case is easy. From your desktop, drag the client file to the Client List.

  1. Save the client file you want to import to your desktop. (The file will have a .bcb file extension.)
  2. With the Client List open, drag the .bcb file from your desktop to the white space of the Client List.
  3. A dialog box appears, confirming the file was imported successfully.

Did You Know: Best Case has a client questionnaire you can print out or save.

Give this form to a client to fill out prior to your initial meeting or use it during your meeting to maximize your time with your client.

Access the Best Case Client Questionnaire:

  1. Open any Client File
  2. Double-click on the Supplemental Forms
  3. Scroll down to the Client Questionnaire and double click on the form
  4. A QuickForm Option box appears, click OK
  5. The questionnaire then opens:
    • To print, choose File > Print
    • To save to your desktop, choose Export Document to Disk
