IMPORTANT! New Means Test Numbers went into effect March 15, 2011.

For information, visit the US Department of Justice or view a helpful comparison chart of the pre and post figures for each state. Make sure your software is up-to-date with these new numbers. In the top menu bar, go to Tools > Check for Update.

Insights: Export client files to another installation of Best Case

Transfer client files to a laptop or easily share files with other users in the office with the Send Client to Disk feature.

To export a client file:

  1. Highlight the client to be copied in the client list window

  2. Select File in the top menu bar, then Send Client to Disk...

  3. In the dialog box that appears, choose Copy to Other Location
    Step 3
  4. Navigate to the desktop or to a flash drive and click OK
  5. A dialog box appears, confirming that your file was copied successfully. Click Close.

To import or restore a client file into another installation of Best Case:

  1. With the Client List open, navigate to the top menu bar, select File then Restore Client from Disk...

  2. From the dialog box that appears, choose Restore from Other Location
    Step 2
  3. Navigate to the drive location where you saved the client file and click OK
  4. Select the checkbox of the file you want to import, then click Restore
    Step 3
  5. A message appears letting you know that the file has been restored.
    NOTE: If you receive a warning that the file already exists, click Replace if the file you are importing is more current.

Shortcuts: Enter a debtor's home or cell number to a client file for future reference

Having a debtor's phone number readily available is good practice and convenient. It's easy to enter the debtor's phone number to a client file. Here's how:

  1. Select the client from the client list
  2. Click the Notes button in the menu bar

  3. Select the Debtor tab in the window that appears and enter the debtor's phone number and any other information you wish to have available

Did You Know?: You can print the date and time in the top margin of forms and schedules

Take advantage of this handy feature to keep your printed forms organized.

  1. Select the documents you want to print in the Forms and Schedules window by clicking in the right margin of the form
    NOTE: A printer icon identifies the document as selected for print

  2. Click the Print button in the menu bar
  3. In the dialog box that appears, check the Print date and time in top margin option

  4. Click Print
