Data Products and Services that Enhance Our Law Practice

We started our Bankruptcy Law practice in 2003 and have used Best Case from the beginning. As our firm has evolved and grown, so has Best Case in its offerings and support. These are some of the data products and services that help our bankruptcy law practice.

Best Feature: Merged credit report with predictive post-bankruptcy score

The Bankruptcy Credit Report is hands down the product we find to be the most useful for both us and our clients. For us, it is convenient to have multiple credit reporting agencies in one report. This helps us avoid a missed liability and reduces the need to add creditors after the case is filed, saving filing fees associated with these changes. Ordering and importing the report through Best Case also reduces data entry and improves accuracy. You can select individual creditors and then choose the treatment for each creditor by marking the appropriate schedule for each tradeline. Once creditors are selected from the credit report the full list merges right into the creditor matrix.

The predictive post-bankruptcy credit score contained within the Bankruptcy Credit Report is useful in educating clients on how filing a bankruptcy might actually benefit their credit after discharge. With negative and inaccurate information in the public about the effects of filing for bankruptcy, it is a powerful statistical tool to demonstrate to clients the reality of how filing may actually improve their credit in both the short and long term.

“This is an influential tool to educate our clients on how filing bankruptcy can be a positive step to improving credit and getting the client’s finances in order.”

We posted about this very topic on our blog, Does Filing Bankruptcy Decrease Your Credit Score. We aggregated actual statistical information from our clients’ current and predictive score to show that filing for bankruptcy, in most cases, will actually improve one’s credit score within one year’s time. This is an influential tool to educate our clients on how filing bankruptcy can be a positive step to improving credit and getting the client’s finances in order.

Best Feature that Streamlines: Counseling certificates and auto-filing of Form 423

We regularly order credit counseling courses for our clients through Best Case. We like the fact that when a client completes this step, the certificate automatically uploads to Best Case and we are able to view the certificate immediately within the client’s Best Case file. Since often times filing deadlines are time sensitive, it reduces the stress associated with tracking down this pre-filing requirement and streamlines our process to get the client’s case filed and into our active portfolio of cases.

“Once our clients complete the course, this automated function simplifies the process and removes the need for us to navigate through the Court filing system.”

We recently started using the auto-file option for the second step of the credit counseling requirement – the Financial Management Course. Once our clients complete the course, this automated function simplifies the process and removes the need for us to navigate through the Court filing system. This automation is extremely helpful to fulfil this important step for our clients to complete their bankruptcy process and obtain a discharge.

Best Client Communication Enhancer: Client and firm notifications

The feature that we feel best aids us in enhancing and automating case filing with our clients is the credit counseling notifications. Our clients receive weekly reminders by text and email to take and complete the course. The ability to send reminders to clients through Best Case streamlines our follow-up process. These extra communication tools also enhance the client’s opinion of our practice as being well-organized and on top of deadlines and communication.

We really like the option to complete the credit counseling over the phone or online for the same price. This allows us to give clients more options and ultimately cuts down on client frustrations (some clients are tech-savvy, some are not!). This also limits the assistance needed on the attorney’s end to help clients complete this Court requirement.

In summary, we have been extremely happy with the continued roll-out of products and offerings that Best Case has developed to assist attorneys and their clients. Best Case is forward thinking in their efforts to stay ahead of changes within the bankruptcy practice and assisting their partner firms – big and small.
