Revised Means Test Figures

The Census Bureau, IRS Data and the Chapter 13 Administrative Expenses Multipliers are revised effective May 1, 2020. After updating Best Case, view the new figures in the program by changing the expected filing date to May 1, 2020 or later in the General tab in Form 122. Visit the U.S. Trustee’s Means Testing website for more information regarding revisions. A comparison of the previous numbers is provided.

  • Real or personal property used by the debtor or debtor’s dependent(s) as a principal residence Va. Code § 34-4 amended to create a new state exemption of up to $25,000

District of Idaho – effective March 2020

  • Per item limit for household furnishings and appliances, wearing apparel, animals, books, musical instruments, family pictures and heirlooms increased from $750 to $1,000 (§§ 11-605(1)(a)-(c))
  • Tools of the trade and professional books increased from $2,500 to $10,000 (§ 11-605(3))
  • Motor vehicle increased from $7,000 to $10,000 (§ 11-605(3))
  • Crops increased from $1,000 to $5,000 (§ 11-605(7))
  • Firearm increased from $750 to $1,500 (§ 11-605(8))
  • Wildcard increased from $800 to $1,500 (§ 11-605(10))
  • Earnings increased from $1,500 to $2,500 (§ 11-605(11))
  • Homestead increased from $100,000 to $175,000 (§ 55-1003)
